We recently released version 7.4 of Live Maps. In this release we were able to add a number of great new features. We have created an integration with ServiceNow, one of the market leaders in IT Service Management. We also added more ways to show performance information in your Live Maps dashboards. And, on top of this we also added some smaller features like more complex membership rule creation and easy navigation to hosted objects from their host object.
Many of our enterprise customers use ServiceNow and in Live Maps 7.4 we have created an integration for it that is similar to the one already provided to System Center Service Manager. Live Maps services can now be synchronized with ServiceNow and if ServiceNow doesn’t contain the configuration items used by the Live Maps service those will be added into the CMDB for you.
After the Live Maps services and components are synchronized with ServiceNow this information can easily be used in the Incident and Change Management processes using the native Business Service Maps in ServiceNow.
Show Business Service Information in Dashboards
The services dashboard and service map from Live Maps are now available in Dashboards and are completely Silverlight free! This means you can now show these dashboards on any device from a smartphone to an Xbox One or Holol.
Performance Data in Diagram Views
You can now decorate your diagrams with all sorts of gauges and graphs that show performance information. This makes the diagram even more powerful and has been a widely requested feature.
We have created 4 different ways of presenting performance data in a Diagram view.
These performance shapes are completely customizable like all other shapes in a Live Maps Diagram view. Because these shapes are rendered in the image Silverlight is not required to view these diagram views.
Easy Navigation to Hosted Objects
Longtime customers of Live Maps will recognize this functionality from previous versions. While we believe our replacement for it – the ability to search on all components of a path – was a great solution as well, many customers still missed the old way of doing things and hence we’ve restored it.
In the coming weeks we will provide further blog articles which will explain the new features in greater detail.
Live Maps 7.4 is available for download now. If you are not a customer yet, try Live Maps today in our online demo environment or request an evaluation key to try it in your own data center.
