Three months ago we introduced apps for both iOS and Android that allow you to monitor your Operations Manager and Live Maps environments from anywhere in the world. We’ve had a lot of great feedback from our customers, and are working diligently to improve these products for you. The most popular request we’ve received is support for Windows Phone. Today we answer that request.
We are proud to announce that we’ve launched full support for Windows Phone 8. And it’s available right this second. You can download it now and start monitoring your critical Live Maps.
Mini Release FAQ
Wow! That’s great. Will I be able to receive timely notifications like I do on iOS & Android?
Yes, you will. The only thing you have to do is upgrade your Live Maps Mobile Notification Service. The installers and instructions can be found on our download page under “Live Maps Mobile Device Notification Service Update (ZIP Archive)”. Note that the app uses the current version of the web console and that this is only an update for the Windows service.
Is this app any different from its big brothers on iOS and Android?
Nope, this app is a carbon copy of those apps and has all the same features as iOS. We’re currently developing some more granular notification controls for both Windows Phone and iOS. Check back soon to see what we’ve done!
Why do you guys only support Windows Phone 8?
There is a long and technical answer to this question, which boils down to the following: the third party service we use to distribute notifications only supports Windows Phone 8.
