Processing lots of data from different sources and making sense of it can become difficult if you cannot visualize it to the right people at the right time. Live Maps does not just monitor your System Center operations Manager (SCOM) and get data from your OMS systems. It solves problems by putting the issue clearly right in front of you on clean and personalized dashboards anywhere, on any device.
With the latest Live Maps release, v8.7, we’ve added the following new features to cover the complete business and technical monitoring dashboard needs of your organization. Click on the features below to find out more and stay tuned for the upcoming Live Maps 8.7 intro webinar in which we’ll demo how to use them.
Object Explorer Dashboard
The automated Object Explorer dashboard, allows users can see all the child objects (e.g. a disk hosted on a server) for all SCOM objects. The Object Explorer introduces a very quick way to see properties, alerts, performance, monitors and rules, related services, tasks and classes associated with each and every object. Once an object is selected, all child objects are shown on interactive performance graphs. Where performance for an asset needs investigating, it is easy to identify which child objects are the source of the performance issues. This takes away a lot of time of worrying about what needs to be shown to dashboard users, as well as giving Admins an easy way to see what is monitored and what is not monitored. All out-of-the-box, no configuration required.
Also included in Live Maps v8.7 is the new Alert Management dashboard that provides a single interface for viewing and processing alerts. All alerts are displayed in a unified view and with a fast and easy-to-use search, it is easy to locate a specific alert. Once located, an alert can be processed to update resolution state, update ticket id, update owner, etc.
The PowerShell widget allows information to be pulled from any PowerShell enabled source (e.g. System Center Configuration Manager), as well as a wealth of system information that is available through PowerShell. The results from the PowerShell widget are displayed graphically in a similar way to the already available SQL Query Widget found in the Live Maps summary dashboards feature today. Further technical details on using the PowerShell widget can be found on the Savision support knowledge base here.
The OMS widget enables OMS data to be directly displayed in the operational Live Maps dashboards. This widget allows users to select a saved Log Search in OMS, and visualize the results of that search in the Live Maps summary dashboards. Without having to actually login or be trained on the OMS portal itself. Ultimately improving your SCOM data by enriching the context with more analytical information next to live real time health status.
Service Map Dashboards
Live Maps already provides many out-of-the-box service maps so you can see at a glance the health, relationships and status of your most important services, such as: SCOM, Active Directory, Exchange and SharePoint, among many others. In this release we have added Citrix, Veritas Enterprise Vault and Veeam out-of-the-box services. Perfect for providing a direct window into SCOM to your service owners, but without all the hard work.
Citrix Out-of-the-box Service
In a few clicks, users can obtain a business service representation of their Citrix infrastructure. We currently support all available Citrix management packs: – License, Netscaler, Store Front, Xenapp and desktop, Xenserver and Cloudbridge. These may be used in any combination and not all are required to use this service.

Veeam Out-of-the-box Service
Similarly to the Citrix service, the Veeam out-of-the-box service is click and go: it can be installed without the need for any configuration to obtain a business service representation of the organization’s Veeam virtual infrastructure.
Veritas Enterprise Vault Out-of-the-box Service
Veritas out-of-the-box service is also a pre-packaged service that can be installed, and without the need for any configuration, a business service representation of the Veritas infrastructure is shown.
